Hunting

[Fallenstar]

Now, watch me. I'll show you the hunters crouch. *Crouches low to the ground, her tail a feather above the ground, her paws light and pounces fast and gracefully onto a leaf before she stands back up* Now. You try.

[Smokewhisper]

Her eyes narrowed into tiny slits after studying. She crouched down, her legs bending. She kept as low as possible, and carefully lifts her tail off the ground. She takes a few light steps in caution, then springs forward onto a mound of dirt.

[Fallenstar]

*Nods* Good, very good. Now, let's go and try to catch some real prey.

[Smokewhisper]

She trots after her mentor. Her tail wags in excitement. She steps quietly across the forest, ears pricked and nose twitching. Mouse. She spots the critter nibbling on weeds leftover from leaf bare. She is careful to be downwind. Copying her mentor's crouch, she pounces on the mouse. She smashes one paw in it's neck to kill it. She turns around to her mentor, eyes glowing in pride.

[Lionblaze]

Hey Smokepaw. *Looks up at Fallenstar* Rainblaze said I'm free. Can Smokepaw and I go hunting?

[Smokewhisper]

She drops and buries the mouse.
"Lionpaw!"
She turnaround to look at her mentor for permission.

[Fallenstar]

*Purrs* Go on ahead. You two deserve some fun.

[Lionblaze]

Okay, thanks! *Turns to Smokepaw* Where do you want to go hunting at?

[Smokewhisper]

"By the stream, there will be more prey there. There is more vegetation for them to feed and hide in. If we don't catch much, we can always fish."
She said thoughtfully.

[Lionblaze]

Okay. Race you?

[Smokewhisper]

"You don't stand a chance!"
She jokingly flipped her tail against his nose and shouted.
"One, two, three!"
She pelted into the woods, running toward her destination, a smoky gray streak through the trees. She giggled as she went.

[Lionblaze]

*Chuckles as he gives chase, easily catching up, but she was a little faster*

[Smokewhisper]

She screeches to a stop as she passes the line.
"Told you."
She lughed and licked his ear.
"I win. I'm still faster."

[Lionblaze]

*Catches his breath, smiling* Yeah. Your amazing Smokepaw.

[Smokewhisper]

She blushes under her fur, but just as quickly bats him on the nose gently and playfully.
"Oh, stop flirting, let's hunt, the clan won't feed itself."
She giggles and turns around to taste the air for prey.
